Our Techniques
Chiropractors use a variety of techniques to treat their patient’s conditions. This is similar to a medical physician prescribing different medications to treat different problems. We tend to use a hybrid approach of using several different techniques that are tailored to what works best for the patient. Rest assured, that regardless of what technique or techniques we use, our first goal is to be gentle. We’ll do whatever your spine and body are ready to handle. We’ll also get information from you and find out about your past experiences with chiropractic and what has worked for you.
Upper Cervical Treatment for Headaches and Migraines
While Chiropractic care is great for neck and back pain, it’s also highly effective for headaches and migraines. Dr. Tanya has completed an additional year of post graduate training in a very gentle technique that specializes in the treatment of headaches and migraines.
Exercise and Rehabilitation
It is very common to find weak muscles around an injured or painful area which often presents as stiffness or tightness. This stiffness is very easy to mistake as a “pulled muscle”, which actually means a muscle tear, when instead your muscle is actually protecting the injured area by providing support. Because of this, it is very important that any weak muscles be identified and then strengthened through a careful and precise exercise protocol. Without this rehabilitation and strengthening it is only a matter of time before the pain returns. Part of your care at Doster Chiropractic includes an evaluation for the presence of weak muscles and areas of instability. With this information we can design the proper exercises to help you stay out of pain.
Chiropractic Neurology
Did you know that a broad range of neurological problems, from learning disorders to vertigo (dizziness), may be helped with chiropractic care? In addition to the eight and a half years to become a chiropractor, Dr. Jarod Doster completed an additional three years of training to become a board certified Chiropractic Neurologist. Chiropractic neurology focuses on identifying areas of our brain and nerves that are not functioning or working at 100%. Once these areas are identified through a very thorough and specific examination, the doctor can recommend a treatment protocol to best rehabilitate and strengthen the affected area. Since the brain and nerves control everything from pain to digestion, problems can present themselves in a variety of ways, such as dizziness, learning disorders, balance problems and nausea just to mention a few. Chiropractic neurology is not limited to the treatment of neurological conditions, but can also be effective with traditional problems like disc injuries, back pain, neck pain and headaches.
Dr. Doster has enjoyed success in treating many conditions that otherwise may not have shown improvement with traditional chiropractic care. Some of these conditions include:
- Disc injuries
- ADD and ADHD
- Vertigo
- Stroke
- Tremors
